Apparently, you can go home again, and Karl Lagerfeld is living proof. The designer received a standing ovation for his nautically inspired Métiers d’Art collection for Chanel yesterday at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in his hometown of Hamburg, Germany. Celeb onlookers like Kristen Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp and Tilda Swinton were among many obviously impressed with the latest collection, which paid homage to Karl’s seaside roots via tulle-adorned sailor hats, structured tweed jackets, wide-legged trousers, chunky cable knits and military-inspired coats. The looks covered the sartorial gamut from simply styled sweaters to ornate gowns lined with feathers. “We like to dream,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion, to Women’s Wear Daily . “We are the only ones to have a Métiers d’Art collection. It’s our way of expressing the brand, so each time, we want to make it something exceptional.”
