This Major Mall Brand Is Getting A Huge Makeover For Spring

by Kristi Mikesky

If asked to envision a collection boasting tassel-detail tops, trendy culottes and safari-inspired separates, you likely wouldn’t immediately think of Ann Taylor, would you? Time to think again: The mall brand is getting a major makeover thanks to its new designer Austyn Zung. Spring 2016 marks her first full collection for Ann Taylor, and Zung set out to re-establish the DNA of the brand by evolving its classic pieces. For spring, she was inspired by the idea of Ernest Hemingway in Havana, incorporating lush botanical prints and colors influenced by the city’s architecture. The elevated but playful sensibility feels distinctly new—and we’re excited about it. So what can we expect from future collections? Zung promises more modern, feminine sportswear and an exploration of strong yet gamine prints and beautiful mix-and-match neutrals. Here, some of the looks we’re excited about for spring—we never thought we’d be so ready to hit the mall.
