Beat The Heat: Cool Outfit Ideas

Summer is in full swing in all of its sweaty glory, but staying cool and looking stylish don’t have to be mutually exclusive. We tapped one of our favorite local girls, fashion photographer Harper Smith, to model four breezy summer outfits. Her keen eye (she shoots for major magazines like Vogue and Elle) came in handy when the Rachel Zoe Studio styling team showed up with truckloads of pieces, all from LA-based designers. See what they chose, and the very special guest cameo.

Easy Rider

For running errands in the late afternoon, choose loose-fitting boyfriend jeans and a light, cotton crop top.

On The Fringe

For a casual lunch date, try a fringed camisole like this version with ombre tassels. A pair of leather shorts and espadrilles give the look an urban twist.

Embroidered Ease

The classic cutoffs-and-t-shirt combination gets a fresh spin with a sleeveless tee and embroidered jean shorts. A tie-dye cashmere sweater and lace-up brogues complete the easygoing ensemble.

Flirty Frock

For an outdoor concert, why not try a floaty minidress in a feminine print? Add nude wedge boots with a tassled trim to take you from day to night.

The most valuable member of the shoot team was Pepper, Harper's potbellied pet pig.
