This Nostalgic Print Is Perfect For Spring

by Amy Lee

Flower motifs are an obvious choice for spring (it gets us in the mood time and time again), but this season’s florals are jumping on the throwback trend train with ditsy designs that remind us of those that were scattered across the smocked babydoll frocks and dizzying, ultra-girly wallpaper we once adored as kids. Now, the micro vintage florals are back and although they undoubtedly imbue nostalgic vibes, they now read as modernly feminine—especially when paired with spring’s pastel hues and juxtaposed with edgy accessories. And we’ve noticed street-style stars and French girls alike are adoring the look. See our favorite ditsy floral pieces at the moment and read on for our tips on how to style the trend.

We strongly suggest trying pastel hues this season. This slinky lavender cami is utterly sweet next to a dirty floral hanky skirt. Slingback pumps emphasize the ladylike aesthetic, but keep it playful with a straw clutch, clear sunnies and shapely hoops.

This smocked peplum tank is so girly and adorable that we'd wear it to exhaustion once temperatures rise. In lieu of blue denim, reach for a white pair with contrast stitching. Match your shoes to the top via periwinkle patent leather pumps. Accessorize with gold jewelry and a sleek neutral bag pinned with an edgy accent.

One can't talk about florals without mentioning a dress. A long-sleeve midi is a fantastic transitional option you can wear with western studded boots now or with slides later. Throw a trench coat over the shoulders for extra coverage. Hexagonal frames, drop earrings and a macrame bag pulls the whole look together.
