Here’s Another Reason To Shop At Nike

by Samantha McDonald

As we continue to see more body positivity on runways and in editorials, here comes another brand that’s joined the movement. Nike just released a plus-size women’s collection, and it’s getting serious praise both online and off. Rolling out sizes from XL to 3X and bra sizes up to 38E, the 44-piece range includes strappy tanks, sports bras and leggings—essentially high-performance gymwear that can double as athleisure.

The athletic powerhouse’s efforts first caught attention when it shared an Instagram post over the summer featuring model Paloma Elsesser wearing a Nike sports bra, along with tips on finding the right size and fit should you need to stretch out one of their bras. While it came with good intentions, the Internet pointed out that the techniques still didn’t accommodate certain body types.

So Nike listened. With their latest range, the retailer wants to empower every woman regardless of her shape and size. “The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period,” the brand said in a statement. “And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.” Shop the collection here.
