Fall’s Must-Know Minimalist Collections

by Kristi Mikesky

Though we’re looking forward to donning fall’s trendiest statement pieces, there will also be a sizable section in our closet dedicated to the season’s most versatile basics. The minimalist movement continues to permeate the industry with a crop of chic new wares (think: paper-thin sweaters, cigarette trousers, streamlined outerwear and the like), as French-girl style and effortless elegance remain at the core of a cool-girl aesthetic. Here, 3 must-know collections boasting classic, easy separates to achieve the look this autumn.

Comptoir des Cotonniers A/W '15

The latest in a string of mother-daughter duos appearing in their seasonal campaigns, French label Comptoir des Cotonniers cast Charlotte Gainsbourg—who calls Jane Birkin mom—and her daughter Alice Attal as the faces of their fall collection. Tapping into the pair's ageless Parisian elegance, the lineup includes sharp suiting separates, leather sneakers and elevated basics in a neutral color palette.
