DIY Denim For Under $10

2014 Adam Katz Sinding

While we love statement denim as much as the next person sometimes the truly outrageous head-turners have jaw-dropping price tags. So when we saw this gorgeous pair of fringed jeans we knew we had to have a similar style but decided to get creative. In this denim DIY we recreated the look in under 10 minutes for less than $10. Now that’s what we call fast fashion.

What You'll Need

Pick up a glue gun and fringe trim at a local crafts or fabric store. We mined our closet for a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans we haven't worn in a while.

Cuff Size

Use an ankle-length pair of slouchy jeans so that you only need to cuff them once. Be sure your cuff is shorter than the length of the fringe so it won't peek out at the bottom. Press it with an iron to reinforce the fold.

Stay Inside The Lines

Apply a thin line of hot glue just beneath the flipped seam of your cuff. This ensures you attach the fringe in a straight line.

Seal The Deal

Line up the fringe strip with the bottom of the cuff seam and press firmly into the line of glue. Repeat around the entire leg and trim the excess strip with small scissors, making sure to affix the ends with glue.

Final Product

Voila! We suggest keeping your outfit and accessories minimal to really let the fringe sing. Prepare to turn heads and receive compliments.
