This is one on-camera transformation that’ll take some getting used to. For its 10th anniversary Art issue, W Magazine chose to look where the wild things are and turned BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid into digitally manipulated humanoid creatures nicknamed “placebo pets.” With pointy ears and prosthetic noses, Gigi became a lion-fox and Kendall a bunny-cat—basically real-life Snapchat filters.
Artists Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch explained their concept with a question: “Who would survive if a superior alien humanoid species came to Earth?” The answer: “The friendliest.” They managed to persuade KenGi to appear as half-human, half-domesticated animals for the VR-inspired editorial. Hey, just in time for Halloween.
