While most Americans were busy barbecuing and celebrating the nation’s birthday, across the pond in Paris, A-listers, fashion heavyweights and celebrities were attending Chanel’s post-couture-show bash to introduce the new Gabrielle Chanel fragrance. (The scent is the final act in a year dedicated to the French house’s matriarch, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. As you may recall, the Gabrielle bag also launched this year.) With a performance by Pharrell—which included a surprise duet with Katy Perry—and a guest list that included Cara Delevingne, Caroline de Maigret, Stella Maxwell, Stella Tennant and Kristen Stewart (the face of the fragrance), this party created its own Fourth of July fireworks. Even the incomparable Mr. Lagerfeld was in attendance. The completely immersive celebration featured walls lined with faceted mirrors, a maze decorated in Coco’s favorite quotes, a hologram of the Gabrielle bottle exploding into a bouquet of flowers, and the scent wafting through the air—naturally. Even a film about the fragrance was screened. Talk about an experience for the senses! The new scent is led by notes of ylang-ylang, orange blossom, jasmine and Grasse tuberose, but since it doesn’t officially launch until August, you’ll have to wait to try it for yourself. For the time being, satiate your Chanel cravings with the eye candy of these impeccably dressed partygoers. Here, some of our favorite looks from the memorable soiree.
