3 Burning Man-Inspired Looks

by Kate Wolfson

The week-long psychedelic extravaganza that is Burning Man kicks off this Monday. And whether you’re one of the lucky (and brave) few packing up the RV and heading to Black Rock or opting to commemorate the festivities from a safe distance like the rest of us, you don’t have to look like a Mad Max extra to get in the spirit. Here, we’ve rounded up 3 totally wearable, weekend-appropriate outfits inspired by the desert rager.

Bandanas & Fringe

Odds are, you won’t find too many blazers at Burning Man, but fringe and bandanas (the festival site is notorious for freak sand storms, having a scarf handy is a must) are guaranteed to be out in full force. Style yours with a classic striped tee and of-the-moment leather shorts for a day spent wandering downtown…or the desert.

Skin-Baring Sheer

Stepping out in a see-through shirt is not for the faint of heart. And though loads of skin is an expected sight at Black Rock, for city wear we suggest layering with a more conservative tank or crop top.

Heavy Metals & Acid Wash Denim

Chunky metal jewelry is the closest thing burners have to a uniform, and the same can be said for lovingly worn-in denim. Luckily, both items can be easily mixed into your weekend uniform (i.e. sweatpants and tees).
