Ask Rachel: Look On The Brightside

by The Zoe Report

Hi Rachel,

I am obsessed with all of the bright looks shown on the spring runways and really want to try the trend myself. How does a woman in her 30s mix bold colors into her wardrobe while still looking classic? Thanks! – Nicole, submitted via Submit A Question

Nicole,

Thank you for the fabulous question! It is true that bright hues were all over the runways from Fendi and Burberry to Prada and Jil Sander. Rest-assured, there are plenty of age-appropriate means to interpret the look into your own closet. Take it from me!

For starters, as with any trend, it is always a good idea to test the waters with a bold accessory or two. Think: a shiny belt, multicolored necklace or vibrant pair of shoes. This approach will get you out of your comfort zone in such a way that is understated and chic. You can’t go wrong! Here are some of my current frill faves:

1. Rebecca Minkoff Alaina Handbag 2. ASOS Leather Patent Belt 3. Lizzie Fortunato You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me Necklace 4. Dolce Vita Jade Wedges

After you have come to terms with color, I recommend taking things up a notch via some striking apparel. A good rule of thumb is to rock one bright piece at a time while keeping the rest of your outfit neutral—a basic white tee always works! Agree? Try:

5. Crumpet Cardigan 6. Topshop Stripe Skirt 7. Tucker Printed Harem Pants 8. Equipment Vintage Shirt Dress

Finally, as a finishing touch to any beaming ensemble, paint your nails to per-fec-tion with an attention-grabbing polish. The brighter, the better! xoRZ
