Why The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Is Inspiring Our Fall Wardrobes

After watching the trailers for this weekend’s must-see film The Man from U.N.C.L.E., two things are clear to us: Firstly, we’d watch stars Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill clip their toenails for the rest of eternity—they are that sexy. Secondly, the glamorous Atomic Age wardrobes sported by co-stars Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Debicki are making us rethink our entire fall fashion plans. All the stand-out pieces from the era feature prominently on these two actresses, one who plays an auto mechanic-turned-damsel in distress (Alicia Vikander), and the other who plays the ultimate femme fatale (Elizabeth Debicki). We’re talking chunky plastic earrings paired with mod minidresses and kitten-heel pumps, pumped-up bouffant hairdos and Liz Taylor-style kaftans. When not trying to either save the world or destroy it, Vikander and Debicki give a thorough education on how to look eternally chic. Below, a few of our favorite looks from the film and how to recreate them today.

Major costume bling softens the lines of Debicki’s black-and-white checkerboard gown.

Get the look with a graphic cocktail dress, gold cuffs and swingy pearl drop earrings. Studded black pumps add a contemporary twist.

Alicia Vikander’s character cleans up nicely in a mod mini, matching coat and more outrageous earrings.

A grass green dress will feel fresh this fall with cream accessories—and ear candy that clashes.

Just call Debicki’s uber-glam caftan-and-diamonds combo “villain chic”.

Going somewhere warm? Recreate this jet-set ensemble with loads of gold necklaces, a printed kaftan & more kohl eye liner than you ever thought necessary.
