It seems the world’s elite got tired of seeing ordinary plebeians in the VIP section at Coachella, because they’ve decided to create their own festival on a private island that’s only accessible by private plane. The event, called Fyre Festival, will take place over two weekends after Coachella, April 28-30 and May 5-7, and is to be held on Fyre Cay Island in the Exhumas of the Bahamas, once home to both Blackbeard and Pablo Escobar. (You still there? It gets worse/better, depending on your perspective.)
Tickets for the event range from $2395 to $49995 per person, though to be fair this price does include airfare (PJ-style), accommodations and even meals. A video advert for the festival splices footage of models such as Bella Hadid and Alessandra Ambrosia frolicking through crystal clear seas with shots of musicians rocking out on stage, which basically makes playing this festival the pipe dream of every aspiring (male) guitar player ever born. Kendall Jenner took to Instagram today to announce that the G.O.O.D. Music Family (brother-in-law Kanye’s record label) will be the festival’s first headliner, with more performers still to be announced. Each weekend of the event will feature a treasure hunt with prizes topping out at $1MM proving, once more, that the rich only get richer. Here’s hoping you didn’t blow your entire insanely-priced-festival budget on Coachella tickets this morning…
