On the heels of her buzzed-about Lemonade album drop and HBO special, Beyoncé kicked off her Formation World Tour in Miami last night, quieting some of the pesky rumors regarding Jay-Z’s suspected infidelity. After her controversial and raw display of emotion on Lemonade (with ambiguous meanings woven throughout the lyrics), Queen B proved her relationship with Jay-Z is still solid: She delivered a powerful rendition of his song “Tom Ford” and closed the show by dedicating “Halo” to her “beautiful husband.” Furthermore, Hova was seen backstage smiling and supporting his superstar wife throughout her set.
While we’re growing accustomed to Beyoncé’s unorthodox tactics, she still manages to surprise us. It seems she anticipated the haters with the debut of new merchandise that reads “BOYCOTT BEYONCÉ,” proving she’s always one step ahead of the rest of the world (and capitalizing on press whether positive or negative). In other words, she is quite literally turning lemons into lemonade. The woman is good.
