It was only a matter of time before Jay Z’s new streaming service Tidal hosted its own charity concert. (Charity concerts are the thing right now.) Today, Hova did just that, by announcing TIDAL X: 1020, an event to benefit New World Foundation this October 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Where Jay Z goes, everyone follows, and this show will be no exception. The all-star lineup leads with Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj and also includes Usher, Prince, T.I., Damien Marley, Li’l Wayne, Fabolous and Indochine, to name a few. The thought of witnessing Bey and Nicki on stage together in the flesh is already giving us heart palpitations.
Of course, Tidal X: 1020 won’t just be a great opportunity to sing and dance in our seats; New World Foundation will give proceeds from ticket sales to charitable organizations that “value the essential truth that the people who suffer injustice are crucial to overcoming it.”* Tickets will be available to Tidal members on Wednesday, September 30, and to the general public on Monday, October 12, and will range from $74 to $244.
Can’t make it to Brooklyn on October 20? Better join Tidal… The service will stream the entire concert live. Now if that’s not cause to jump shark from Spotify, we don’t know what is.
