Why Karlie Kloss Is This Generation’s Oprah

by Nicky Deam

Karlie Kloss strutted onto the fashion scene at the tender age of 15 (a shocking 7 years ago) and her star has been on the ascent ever since. Gracing major magazine covers, stomping couture runways and guest-starring in her best friend’s music video only begins to scratch the surface of this multi-hyphenate’s busy schedule. The American sweetheart is now adding a YouTube channel (aptly dubbed ‘Klossy‘) to her impressive resume which is sure to offer a candid window into her wild and crazy life. Her growing empire, and delightfully affable nature, remind us of another American treasure: Oprah. Here, 7 reasons why she is the social media generation’s answer to the original larger-than-life personality.

We’d Join Her Book Club

If it's good enough for Karlie, it's good enough for us (particularly because we're all into fashion biographies).

She Is Philanthropic

This self-starter took it upon herself to learn how to code (we're talking HTML, not Morse) and is sharing the gift with a lucky scholarship winner who gets to take a free course in NYC.

She Has Her Own (Charitable) Cookie Line

The proceeds of her Milk Bar Kookies go to charity, and are (naturally) gluten and dairy free. She's something of a baker in her spare time, and has even hit the kitchen with Martha Stewart.

The Fashion World Adores Her

Beloved by American and European designers alike, the fashion darling is brand ambassador and campaign star to numerous brands including L'Oreal and Victoria's Secret.

She is Down To Earth

She isn't afraid of being real, even if she still looks like a supermodel doing it.

She’s A Smart Gal

Seen here speaking on one of SXSW's Interactive panels, Kloss has also just been accepted to New York University.

She Has An Epic Roster Of Besties

In addition to bestie Taylor Swift, Karlie counts an impressive array of celebs among her good friends which bodes well for guest appearances on her vlog.
