As much as I love the loud and fast-paced NYC life, it was great to soak up some sun and bask in the talents of the artists who show at Art Basel this past week. Miami just radiates color, happiness, warmth and the delicious food and inspiring art on offer during the international art exhibition make it more than worth the trip.
I selected my outfits during the week to match positive, colorful energy and beautiful weather of Miami. For my first day, I strolled around town in a yellow Balenciaga blouse, turquoise Isabel Marant flats (kind of like a work of art) and easy cutoff shorts. Hel-lo, bohemian life.
I loved Aaron Curry’s candy-colored sculptures and Rob Pruitt’s pop culture-inspired ombre smiley faces at the impressive de la Cruz Collection in the new trendy Design District in Miami. These cheerful pieces set the tone for a colorful art week in Miami!
At Mary Boone Gallery’s booth, I loved the colorful ancient pots made by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, who is also the star of the Rubbell Familly exhibition in front of Peter Halley’s geometric paintings.
When it comes time to eat my must-visit places in Miami are Villa Azur, Mandolin and Jugo Fresh. Make sure you get an outside table at Mandolin and a pitcher of sangria upon arrival, with Greek salad and the fish of the day for lunch. Yum!
My final stop? The Webster Miami to check out their exclusive fashion collaborations in honor of Basel. I loved Suno’s bold printed pieces and had to pick up their gingham shirt with a flamingo on the front! It’ll be my sunny souvenir from a great week in Miami, to wear under all of those layers in NYC this winter.
