George's Proposal To Amal

It was a surprise to many when the assumed eternal bachelor, George Clooney tied the knot to Amal Alamuddin in 2014—but even more shocking is how long it took the future Mrs. Clooney to accept the actor's proposal. During his recent appearance on Ellen, George described the engagement story as "one of those horrible moments" as it took Amal nearly 25 minutes to realize George had gone out of his way to ask her to marry him. Watch George recount the hilarious details here. [ Harper's Bazaar ]

Happy Birthday Facebook!

Crazy as it may seem, Facebook turns 12 today—seriously, where has the time gone? Since its 2004 inception, Mark Zuckerberg has managed to create the largest social media company ever and wants to celebrate by deeming February 4th "Friend’s Day" by creating personalized video content for users to share. Similar to the popular "Year In Review" concept, Friend’s Day videos will be based on an algorithm that incorporates the best moments you've shared with friends on the FB and will start to appear in news feeds across the Interwebs by midday today. But don’t fret, your video will only become public if you choose to share it. [ Fast Company ]

McDonald's Is Offering Books With Happy Meals

Starting this week through February 15, McDonald's is giving out books to kids as the Happy Meal prize instead of toys. Part of a partnership with Reading Is Fundamental, the fast food chain is offering 5 mini-sized paperback books mostly themed to Valentine's Day. Marking the third time since 2013 that the burger giant has tried to pass off reading materials as Happy Meal toys, we hope it serves as a reminder to kids that learing is cool. [ Grub Street ]
