Why The Latest Aerie Campaign Is So Important

The Internet is abuzz with American Eagle’s lingerie line aerie after releasing their latest campaign with “curve” model Barbie Ferreira. Known for taking an outspoken stance on body image, the 19-year-old appears unretouched in the ads, poolside in a hot pink bikini. Stating that it was important to her that she look as she truly does in real life, the model added, “What makes me aerie real is that I am unapologetically myself, no matter what anyone’s opinion of me is.” We love that aerie is embracing a different—yet far more realistic—body type in their campaign: It’s refreshing to see such a strong message aimed at younger girls to promote a confident and healthy body image.
