The Spice Girls Are Reuniting—Yes, All 5 Of Them

Updated on February 7, 2018: Get ready to throw on your platform sneakers, leopard leggings and Union Jack minidresses! After much speculation and rumblings (mainly around the TZR office), our ’90s dreams appear to be coming true. According to sources (unofficial ones, we should note), the Spice Girls are getting back together for—get this—a reunion tour that spans the US and UK, reportedly set to kick-off this summer. Yep, we’re talking Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and even Victoria Beckham herself. While no official announcement has been made, this recent post from Victoria’s Insta is worth a thousand words if you ask us. Say you’ll be there, ladies. Say you’ll be there.

Original post on November 13, 2017: While we typically take speculation or unconfirmed rumblings with a grain of salt, when it involves the Spice Girls, we change our tune. We just heard the iconic platform-wearing ’90s girl group that defined our childhood is reuniting for a TV special and album, and we’re taking every single detail as religious truth.

So here’s what we “know”: According to The Sun, all five former Spice Girls—Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Victoria Beckham—have agreed to “a series of projects, which will include an album and a TV special.” Many know that getting all the members to agree to any type of reunion has been a challenge since the group wrapped its last reunion performance at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony. But it seems girl power cannot be denied any longer and everyone, yes, even VB herself, is locked in. An unnamed insider (read: genius PR professional) told the publication, “Getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion. The fact she is on board now is down to how much closer the five of them have become recently.” Apparently, said projects will be rolling out in 2018 (yet another reason we need the circus that has been 2017 to end!).

We don’t know about you, but this news makes us want to break out our double-decker Candie’s sneakers and sequined cropped tops of yore. Slam it to the left and shake it to the right if you’re gonna be glued to any TV that has Baby, Scary, Posh, Sporty and Ginger on it.
