Madonna Is Getting A Biopic—And This Is Her Unexpected Reaction

Now this is one biopic we’ve been waiting for: Universal Pictures has picked up first-time writer Elyse Hollander’s Blond Ambition, which topped last year’s Black List, a ranking of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays—and it’s centered on legendary music icon Madonna. Yes, this means we can finally see the Queen of Pop’s origin story on the big screen, with the film set in the early 1980s as Madge seeks to get her first album released in order to establish a career in the male-dominated music industry.

But only a day after the announcement was made, Madonna herself had a few words to say about the unauthorized project, writing in an Instagram post: “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society.”

Despite her disapproval, we can’t help but wonder which A-list talent is cut out to play the Queen of Pop. From Lady Gaga, who is often compared to Madonna, to the King of Pop’s daughter Paris Jackson, whoever clinches the role has some serious superstar-sized shoes to fill. Perhaps her own daughter, Lourdes Leon, fits the bill?
