Lady Gaga’s Golden Globes Win Signals A Major Year Ahead

by Kristi Mikesky

While Leonardo DiCaprio may have semi-stolen the show with his unintentional cameo in the moment (which is now a viral sensation you’ve likely replayed a thousand times), Lady Gaga’s win at the Golden Globes was still nothing short of major. Taking home the honor of Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture for Television for American Horror Story: Hotel (in which she beat out names including Kirsten Dunst and Felicity Huffman), Gaga made a tearful speech calling it one of the greatest moments of her life. Though widely acclaimed for her illustrious music career, it seems she’s equally passionate about acting—the starlet noted onstage, “I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer. But music worked out first.” This victory affirms the talented artist’s excellence in a big way, and as far as we’re concerned, marks a turning point in her career. (How many other people can say they’ve won multiple Grammys and a Golden Globe?) Which category will Gaga conquer next? We can only imagine, but are willing to bet that she won’t slow down the momentum on the heels of this big moment. In 2016, we’ll be keeping our eyes glued to her every move. Watch her acceptance speech below.
