Jennifer Aniston Brought Back This Iconic ’90s Character on SNL

In February, comedian Vanessa Bayer debuted on Saturday Night Live her impression of ’90s sitcom Friends‘ beloved character Rachel Green. The spot-on impersonation—complete with the iconic Rachel hairdo and denim overalls—made for a wildly popular segment on the comedy series, but it seems not everyone is a fan of Vanessa’s portrayal, especially Jennifer Aniston herself.

The actress, who played Rachel for 10 seasons, made a surprise appearance on the show’s Weekend Update to critique the whole thing, and it was glorious. “I know that you love Friends, and we had such a great time making our movie together, but you got to really try to stop texting me everyday,” Jennifer told Vanessa. “Friends was like five million and five years ago, so I think we just got to move on.”

The comedian then admitted she simply couldn’t because she does “a great bit” as Rachel, to which Jen jokingly retorted, “It kind of just sounds like what you’re doing is ‘What? Oh! What? Me?”—all in classic Rachel banter.

Fortunately, it doesn’t look like the end of the sketch; Jen and Vanessa eventually gave up on the Rachel-off and agreed to get nachos together. Because, after all, what’s a little bit of TV nostalgia without sitcoms and nachos?
