4 Reasons We’re All About This Year’s Highest-Paid TV Actresses

It might not surprise you to learn Sofia Vergara was once again named the world’s highest-paid television actress. (That’s six years in a row—you go, girl!) But you probably weren’t expecting that a number of the ten who topped Forbes‘s annual list share more in common than money. We’re talking diversity, with Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project, Kerry Washington of Scandal and Priyanka Chopra of Quantico (as well as the $41.5 million-banking Modern Family talent) sealing their places not only for their small-screen roles, but also for seven-figure endorsements and licensing deals. It’s a step in the right direction for non-Caucasian actresses who generally continue to be overlooked as TV characters and paid less than their white female (let alone male) counterparts. We’re hoping next year sees a larger batch of actresses from different backgrounds and ethnicities. See the full list here and the top ten ranked below:

  1. Sofia Vergara — $41.5 million
  2. Kaley Cuoco — $26 million
  3. Mindy Kaling — $13 million (tie)
  4. Ellen Pompeo — $13 million (tie)
  5. Mariska Hargitay — $12.5 million
  6. Julie Bowen — $12 million
  7. Kerry Washington — $11 million
  8. Priyanka Chopra — $10 million
  9. Robin Wright — $9 million
  10. Pauley Perrette — $8.5 million
