Amber Heard Is On A Roll With Her Beauty Game

by Kristi Mikesky

There’s no two ways about it when it comes to Amber Heard—the girl is a total smoke show. Though she certainly has that whole naturally gorgeous thing going for her, we applaud the actress for a particularly successful string of adventurous beauty looks as of late. Whether promoting her new film Magic Mike XXL or making appearances at couture week events, she’s been rocking everything from bold lip colors to sculptural eye makeup to intricate braids and beyond. Proving that switching it up often pays off, we’ve been inspired by these 4 looks in particular (and suspect you will be too).

Sharp Smoky Eye + Fishtail Updo

Steal her punk-chic eye makeup by taking a gel eyeliner pencil to the top lid and winging it out at the ends, focusing on building definition at the outer corner. Create depth with a matte chocolate shadow applied to the crease of the eyelid, blending until smooth. Clean up stray product and create severe, sculptural lines with the help of an angled cotton swab. Swap out a traditional chignon for a fishtail bun—plait hair down your back then wrap and pin at the back of your head. Pull random strands loose around the face and throughout for an undone effect.

Classic Red Lip + Ballerina Bun

Don a strawberry-hued lip and keep the rest of your makeup simple, focusing on a glowing complexion and well-groomed brows. Prep hair with a hydrating styling cream then pull into a sleek ponytail and secure with an elastic. From there, either braid and twist hair into a voluminous bun, or create your own shape by pinning and pulling strands into a ballerina-esque updo.

Beachy, Twisted Locks + A Bronze Glow

Copy Amber's modern mermaid hair by creating a deep side part and twisting hair (from the smaller section) away from the face and around to the nape of the neck, securing with pins at the opposite side. The goal is to keep all hair swept to one side, so don't hesitate to tightly wind strands together to ensure they stay put. With the remaining hair, wrap small sections around a one-inch iron for loose, wavy texture. Prep skin with an illuminating foundation, then sweep a glowing gel bronzer onto cheekbones and eyelids. For added va-va-voom on the eyes, top with a gold-flecked shadow in a similar bronze hue—and don't forget to dust a bit beneath your lower lash line.

Old-Hollywood Rouge + Pin Curls

Old Hollywood vibes will never go out of style—the classic look is undeniably glamorous, especially for an evening soiree. Pin-curl your hair (or just fake the effect with an iron) and fasten into a bun or faux bob. Apply a rich berry-red lipstick and finish the look with a few coats of mascara and a touch of pink blush on the cheeks.
