Jayne Min Shares Her Beauty Rules

The blogosphere is rife with eagle-eyed shutterbugs and entrepreneurial style mavens equipped with what seems like bottomless closets and endless creative instincts. Jayne Min, the SoCal-based beauty behind the wildly adored blog Stop It Right Now, is something of an Internet unicorn: While staying true to her enviable less-is-more aesthetic (she has deep roots in skate culture and her professional background is in design), she’s managed to spin a hobby into a trusted online destination for all things cool and cutting edge in the fashion industry.

Here, we asked Jayne to share her beauty tips and the products responsible for her flawless complexion (spoiler alert: Thoughtful minimalism is also her makeup mantra).

Rule #1: Keep It Clean

Rule #2: Take Cover

“The one beauty product I keep coming back to is NARS concealer—it's lightweight and lasts all day long without creasing”

Rule #3: Stick To Classics

“I prefer a plain old jar of Vaseline Lip Treatment to lipstick. The classic formula keeps my lips super soft, healthy and shiny.

Rule #4: Commit To Proper Skincare

From cleanser to serum to moisturizer, my skincare regimen is taken care of entirely by the Somme Institute 5-step skincare system. Plus, the sleek packaging looks cool in my medicine cabinet.”

Rule #5: Less Is More

“I like to keep my makeup pretty minimal, focusing mainly on my skin looking and feeling healthy with SPF-infused foundation and making my eyes pop by applying a thickening mascara. Benefit's They're Real Mascara is my favorite”

Rule #6: Always Be Scent-Sational

"Every woman should have a signature fragrance. I use Byredo Inflorescence—it's a lovely floral perfume that's never overpowering."

Rule #7: Splurge On Skincare

"I splurge on anything skincare-related: Crème de la Mer, Rodin Olio Lusso, La Mer The Eye Treatment, facials and the aforementioned Somme Institute program. I tend to save and go for drug-store purchases when it comes to eye shadow and lipstick since I don't use it all that much."

Rule #8: Neutrals Rule

"I prefer solid, neutral nails that go with everything—black, milky white, maroon. Never pastel."

Rule #9: Know Your French

"In general I like the French look. Caroline de Maigret and Emmanuelle Alt always nail it. I prefer the idea of not trying too hard and going for natural hair and makeup. Perfectly airbrushed makeup with false eyelashes and curled mermaid hair makes me cringe. I always like a bit of undone, casual ease."
