1. Exfoliation
"Regular exfoliation is imperative to maintaining a glow. A build up of dry, dead skin cells can clog pores, make wrinkles appear deeper and prevent serums and other facial products from properly penetrating. We recommend a combo of both a mechanical scrub like Eminence Strawberry Dermafoliant and enzymatic exfoliant like Eminence Yam and Pumpkin Enzyme Peel. You can combine a light scrub in your cleanser and follow it with an enzyme. Ideally, once a month you are visiting your esthetician to receive a professional level of exfoliation."
2. Hydration
"Your skin is a reflection of your internal health, if you are dehydrated it will show. In addition to drinking water and eating copious amounts of leafy greens you can also look for products that contain hyaluronic acid. It draws moisture from the air and can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, creating a barrier of moisture on the skin which helps it appear supple and plump. A fantastic product with hyaluronic acid is Hylunia Nightly Renewal Serum which also contains powerful anti-aging Vitamin A. Another good tip is to carry a hydrating mist in your purse to refresh throughout the day, one we love is Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist."
3. Vitamin C
"What doesn't Vitamin C do? Not only does it improve skin discoloration but it also brightens the complexion, reduces inflammation, strengthens the skin's barrier function, helps skin withstand sun exposure and helps increase collagen production. Basically it's a necessity, and because Vitamin C is a volatile compound it's important to do your research and invest in one that's effective. We swear by Dr. Lancer's Advanced C Radiance Cream."
4. Sunscreen
"Winter, summer, spring or fall, cloudy days or sunny ones you should always wear sunscreen. Sun damage is one of the worst offenders of aging skin causing loss of elasticity and wrinkles, uneven pigment and even cancer. Sun damage done in your 20's takes at least 10 years to come to the surface of the skin. Sunscreen should always be applied last, you wouldn't wear your jeans beneath your underwear. Serums always go on first followed by sunscreen. We love Suntegrity Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen that moisturizes and protects the skin, coming in 5 different tints for light coverage."
5. Wash Your Face
"This may sound basic but so many clients confess to washing once a day or sometimes not at all. We sweat whilst we sleep and sweat contains our internal toxins, throughout the day we wear make up and are exposed to pollution and grime which means aging free radicals. Washing twice a day is ideal. Having a gentle creamy cleanser for morning like Hylunia's Facial Cleansing Lotion and a gel based cleanser like Eminence Stone Crop Gel Wash for evening is a good course of action, you will invest more initially buying two separate cleansers but they will last you twice as long."
