Sayonara, mascara! At least according to the Spring 2014 runways. It seemed as though scores of major designers – Narcisco Rodriguez, Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and more – decided to rebel against the full lashes of seasons past. Sending their models down the runway with untouched lashes, however, did not mean it was just a parade of bare faces. Whether the models had dusts of sheer lilac shadow (Phillip Lim), or a swath of punchy lip color (DKNY), they proved that ditching the quintessential beauty tool can produce a surprisingly wearable and unique look. We were a little skeptical, until we found these two gorgeous looks and the simple ways to recreate them. Read on for our step-by-step guide.

Rather than defining the eye with mascara, opt for a softer, romantic look. A radiant complexion and bronze-toned lids, cheeks, and lips are the perfect pairing for a summer dress.
Step 1: Prime Time
Start by covering your face and eyes with an illuminating primer. It will provide you with an unrelenting glow, and offer a great canvas for your eyeshadow and bronzer to cling to. A quick pump from an eyelash curler will make your eyes appear more awake.
Bronze and Highlight
Next you'll want to warm your complexion by dabbing a cream blush in a rich hue over your cheeks, forehead and bridge of your nose for a skin-kissed flush. Then, fill in your brows and add a dot of pearlescent highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes. Finish by swiping a generous amount of bronze cream shadow along your upper eyelid to add defintion. Done!
Rag and Bone Spring 2014 Runway
For evening, try matte skin, a saturated lip, and an indistinguishable stripe of liner on your upper lid.
Back to Basics
Use a mattifying foundation that hydrates and covers imperfections, making sure to also cover the eye area. Next, take a fine eyeliner brush and draw a very thin black stripe along your upper lash-line, as close to the base of your lashes as possible. (Avoid the temptation to draw a cat-eye, this line only serves to convey thicker eyelashes and should be barely visible.)
Seal The Deal
The focus will be on your lips, so start with a hydrating matte lip balm with dense pigment. Next, layer a long-lasting lipstick in a saturated color for an attention-grabbing pout, and you're ready to go!
