Partial Plaid

Give your friends major mani envy with this easy-to-achieve look.

Step 1: Start with 1 coat of opaque black nail polish.

Step 2: Apply a matte topcoat to create more contrast between the black and white.

Step 3: With a striping brush, create 2 vertical lines going up the left side of the nail.

Step 4: Finish the design with 1 horizontal line across the top of the nail.

Half And Half

You will never find a nail art design this simple that packs such a punch.

Step 1: Start with 2 thin layers of white polish and let dry completely.

Step 2: Place a strip of tape down the middle of each nail and paint the remainder with black polish.

Step 3: Remove the tape and clean up any rough edges with a striping brush and white polish.

Step 4: Seal the look with a clear topcoat.

Minimal Mod

This look is effortless and ultra-modern—perfect for a girl who is normally hesitant to try nail art.

Step 1: Apply a basecoat to create a smooth canvas.

Step 2: Layer 2 coats of white polish for an opaque finish.

Step 3: With a striping brush, create a black horizontal stipe in the middle of each nail.

Step 4: Finish with a clear topcoat. For a different look, experiment with a matte coat.
