How To Get Your Makeup To Look As Good As Selena Gomez’s

John Shearer

Selena Gomez turned heads last night on the Met Gala red carpet, and it wasn’t just because she and The Weeknd made their official debut as a couple. She paired her minimalistic Coach gown with a pop of hot pink hues across her eyelids. The eye shadow combination easily became one of the most talked about beauty moments of the night, and for good reason. She kept the rest of her face simple, but we needed a full breakdown of her look and to learn just how she got those eyes.

The good news is the neon bright eye makeup was the result of just two makeup products, and it’s easy enough for anyone to try on their own. Selena’s makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, used an eye color pencil and palette from Marc Jacobs to create Selena’s springtime look. For the fuchsia portion of the eyes, he used the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in the shade (Pop)ular and drew it along the top lash line before extending the color outward. After blending it into the desired winged shape, he combined softer pink shadows from the Marc Jacobs Style Eye Con No 7 Plush Eye Shadow Palette in The Lover 220 to create the soft, gradient effect. This punch of pink tones is perfect for spring, and even well into summer. Two products and just a few simple steps are convincing enough for us to give it a go.
