Winter is typically the time when we take it upon ourselves to experiment with moodier hair hues. But one A-lister who’s artfully eluding the dark side is Jessica Alba—she’s seemingly going blonder by the minute.
People spoke to Jessica’s longtime colorist Robert Ramos about the star’s choice to go bright. He said that when giving her a root touch-up, he added some lighter tones to her strands for “happiness.” It totally makes sense, winter blues are all too real after all. Robert bumped her up to the honey blonde shade she’s been spotted in recently.

He uses a special coloring technique to create a lived-in result, rather than the look of a brand-new dye job. "I do a regular highlight but I feather the root so it always looks a little bit grown in and irregular. I use three different shades to make it look more natural—never like fresh highlights," he told the mag.
If you'd rather stand out from the dark-haired crowd, consider sharing Robert's technique with your own stylist and bring a little sunshine to your cold-weather look.
