Whether the dad in your life is fuss-free or more particular in his taste, it can feel impossible to pin down the perfect Father’s Day gift. With the holiday fast approaching, we're turning to an expert who knows his Versace from his Armani, but is equally at home in a baseball cap.
Enter Rodger Berman: successful entrepreneur, stylish dad, and husband to Rachel Zoe herself. He’s one of the coolest dads we know, so who better to curate a gift guide of essential Father’s Day frames? While his picks from Sunglass Hut’s exclusive Father’s Day selection are all on-trend, his gifting philosophy is timeless: “I love to get things I wouldn’t buy for myself," he says, "but I also like really practical gifts."
Berman’s sunglasses picks cover enough ground for every type of dad, so if you’re still lost, don’t fret. Find more of his gifting tips and frame selects ahead, presented in partnership with Sunglass Hut.
“I like these Burberry glasses because I think they're perfect for travel when you’re in an all-black outfit,” says Berman. “The great thing about these sunglasses, is that you can easily dress them up with a suit or dress them down with a baseball hat.”
Looking for something dad can keep on-hand to complete his weekend looks? Berman is a fan of these Versace sunglasses for a laid-back day. “I would wear these to a fun, day-drinking brunch,” he says. “This summer, I would probably wear the Versace glasses in and around Capri.”
For the working dad, Berman suggests these Armani shades. “Tortoiseshell makes a great workweek frame. I typically match my sunglasses to my outfit, and these are great to wear with brown, tonal colors,” he says.
If Dad needs a frame update for the next beachside family getaway, Rodger recommends this Persol tortoise-grey pair. “I love the shape of these glasses, and the polarized lenses make these perfect for wearing on the beach,” he says. “I would wear on the beach with my boys.”
“Aviators are such a classic shape and work well on basically everyone,” Berman says. “These iconic frames also work year-round, from season to season.”
For a day on the green, Berman recommends this Oakley pair. “These are perfect sunglasses for playing golf or any activity that keeps you outdoors for a long period of time,” he says. “Also, you usually don’t have to be so precious with Oakley frames. They are tough.”
If your dad finds himself at the occasional black-tie gathering, Berman is a fan of these Prada frames. “I think these Prada glasses are perfect for late afternoon-evening when you still need shades,” he says. Because the hardware is all black, these would be great go-to frames for a dressy evening occasion.”
