It's likely that the last time you wore — or even thought about wearing — Dr. Martens' classic combat boots was many moons ago. Although the notoriously bulky shoes were once the go-to style of the '90s, celebrities have slowly worked the brand back into their wardrobes in recent years. On Tues. afternoon, Behati Prinsloo's Dr. Martens made a convincing case for revisiting the throwback style immediately.

Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo was photographed wearing a pair of platform, patent-leather Dr. Martens while out in Los Angeles on Tues. Prinsloo, who is married to Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, emulated a relaxed, edgy vibe while remaining 100 percent polished. She wore the chunky boots with a pair of ankle-length jeans and a simple, cropped sweater, proving Dr. Martens can elevate any outfit.

Keeping true to her usual off-duty aesthetic (which always includes a grungy element or two), Prinsloo layered her boots with tall, black socks. To finish off the outfit, the model tied a long, oversized flannel around her waist and carried a small, leopard-print crossbody bag. Prinsloo opted for sleek, narrow-framed sunglasses, dainty, layered jewelry, and flowing, skillfully tousled hair for a casual look.

Chunky, hiking boots have been all over the runways this season, with appearances by brands like Proenza Schouler, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Valentino. High-end designers have added their own flare to the trend by incorporating components like colored laces, printed leather, and flashy, studded hardware.

But Prinsloo proves you don't need to break the bank if you want to add some stylish grit to your everyday look. She also shows that combat boots aren't strictly reserved for goth-centric, loud outfits. Wear your Dr. Martens with straight-leg denim, a white t-shirt, a bomber jacket, and a warm hat as the weather cools down. If you're aiming for the perfect balance between soft and edgy, pair your Dr. Martens with a mid-length, floral dress and an oversized blazer.

While the brand is known for their classic combat boots, Dr. Martens actually have quite a range of styles. Opt for a platform version to add some height, or try out a deep-red color to switch things up. Ahead, find some of The Zoe Report's favorite Dr. Martens to shop this fall.
